The 18th century was characterized by a number of religious philosophies formulations and intense criticism from various social scholars in the world. It is important to note that it is during this period when medieval notion of love that the modern individuality concept of western civilization was born. The most fascinating part of this history is the way Saint Francis and Dante gave romantic impulse a new approach by using it explain the mystical and intimate close connection with God (Dante & Sinclair, 1970). Heroism and sainthood is redefined using the case of Abraham during the time of Old Testament. These two concepts were analyzed   by both Saint Francis and Dante to exude confidence in people that romanticm is a self- centered feeling of love. They claim that most of the behavioral observations made from people is simply a reflection of reincarnation of some spiritual powers in an individual by God is a conflicting interest between faith and sin and this has always been the basis of argument about the definition of enlightenment. The idea is that the love of God is transforming and can create a new person in the same body (Armstrong, 1973). The individual behavior forms the basis of individualism since every person has a unique internal spiritual composition.

The struggle for intergration was advanced by Michelangelo gives a real picture of the conflicting scene between love and death through use of art. According to him, life is a journey that is characterized by continuous transformations and the challenges and faith exhibited by an individual works at the risk of gaining or eventually loosing life. Enlightenment in this circumstance is believed to be the desire to follow the personal belief considering the spiritual magnitude in an individual. The meaning of life is actually the sacrifice one gives through struggle and extra ordinary actions that goes beyond selfish desires. This is the reason heroes are different from ordinary people since they have an internal conviction and spiritual motivation that propels their actions (Jeffrey, 1992). Michelangelo relates sainthood with heroic act of walking the murky paths of social struggles and intensive perseverance with faith that something will be achieved. Abraham has been used in this case to show the kind of sacrifice expected of any person walking the tight rope of sainthood. However, it is worth to note that some conservatism must constitute any belief and the society in the 18th century had began to embrace liberal actions that gave birth to secularism. This presents a great challenge in embracing balance with enlightenment with secularism and sainthood life.

While Michelangelo emphasizes Enlightenment patterns of cultural mutation, Kierkegaard’s portrays Abraham as the outstanding example of sainthood. However, it is realized that the evangelists and some influential religious scholars gradually champion for liberalization as a way of promoting civilization and enlightenment (Jeffrey, 1992). By taking the example of martin Luther who campaigned against the absolute authority of pope on Earth in religious matters, it can be seen that steady cultural mutation began to gain ground. The successive scientific theories testing and empirical findings lead to social, economic, and political realignment. This includes capitalism ideologies and new concepts like globalization, which have swept the world into a very new order of civilization. The general human identity has changed and the most people tend to put their interests first even in matters of religion. This has dealt a great blow on the essence of religious sainthood and spiritual heroism. There is systematic change of events from the historical time of Abraham when technology and scientific environment had not been embraced to the current society that scientific experiments now control all the spheres of life. This explains the transformation the spiritual matters have also passed.
