5. Use the networks wisely. For example, like or follow pages on Facebook that you are interested in. If you like any page you come across, your news feed will become simply endless, and thus you will spend much time on reading it.

Overall, prioritize with the usage of social networks. Use them only when you have enough time. First things first, so if you are snowed under work, keep your smart phone away and do not get bothered with uploading a new photo or changing a profile pic – do your job in the first place and improve your self-discipline.
